Anniversary Weekend Getaway

Well...we had our first weekend away from the kids. We've left them with family overnight before...but not 2 in a row. Though...we left around bedtime Friday night...so it wasn't SOOO long w/0 us! Josh's parents came the watch the kids at our house. THANK YOU THANK YOU AGAIN! We got in late Friday...so our trip really began Saturday. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Downtown...which has Reunion Tower attached (though it was closed for renovations). Our main event of the trip was the King Tut exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art. It WAS pretty awesome...even for a history flunkie like myself. It's just amazing how much detail and artistry went into everything they made back then. The exhibit didn't have the actual Tut mummy and his mask like we thought....but still....an amazing assortment of artifacts. They had an audio tour that you could also get...which was a little phone like thing we carried and there were 23 numbered exhibits which had recordings that told more information about them. That was pretty cool too. I think Sydney may be into History like her father....b/c I could almost not get her to bed for the fact that she was reading the book we got her about King tut. I think Josh will take her back another time...the exhibit lasts through May!

We walked a couple blocks to Reunion Arena b/c we heard there was a hockey game Saturday night...but after mulling around another couple of guys came up and asked a worker inside about the game...and they DO NOT play there anymore...they play at the American Airlines Center. Obviously we are NOT from Dallas....or we'd have known. :) So we just walked around town some more....and went out to dinner.

We decided to check out this museum too...the building was beautiful...and it was actually a nice exhibit of Dallas history...but we were already tired from the Tut exhibit...so not really into it.

Sunday we had lunch with my college friend and Roomie, Cristina and her son Jacob. Always fun to catch up with these two!! Wish Sydney and David were there too! (My hair was a mess...forgot my brush and bought a crappy one at the hotel...it just never worked out right!)
