Well, one of the things I'm most thankful of is of course my family (this year and every year!). Our 9th anniversary was the day before thanksgiving (11/21) and we celebrated by eating out at a place called Haiku Sushi and Hibachi Grill. We had been wanting to sit at one of the hibachi tables for a while now and this was our chance. The kids attended as well...we enjoy sharing it as a family...however this year they attended due to the fact that we had all been sick the 3 (7 for David) days prior due to a stomach bug and I decided to cancel the babysitter we had lined up so that we would not expose her family to anything nasty...even though everyone was better by then. Anyway...we sat with another family of 3 (an older couple and their grown son who was visiting for the holiday) around the grill. The food was delicious and the cooking was definitely entertaining...Sydney really loved it. No...we did not have any sushi...not my thing...the word GRILL is of primary interest to me! We'll definitely do it again someday.
The next day was Thanksgiving, but since I had to work on Friday...we really didn't feel like getting out on the road and back as a one-day trip anywhere...so...we cooked a HUGE feast all on our own and had leftovers for days....YEAH RIGHT! We went to Golden Corral and STUFFED ourselves on their buffet which included Turkey and all the fixin's too. It just wasn't the same as having a big family meal...but what saddened me most is HOW MANY friggin' people were there who apparently don't have their own family meals...or The Corral was "IT"...really strange to me.
We were all set for our Thanksgiving CAMPING trip Fri-Sun with Josh's entire family...but then the weather took a turn for the rainy and cold...so that was cancelled. However...Josh's sister, Amy, did invite the whole clan to her NEW HOUSE for a nice meal on Saturday which was really fun! They got to break in the new place with a huge family get-together. We made plans to spend that night at my mom's after since she's pretty close to Amy's and my sister was still in town from TG-day...can't pass up the sis! Sydney however decided it would be fun to stay with her cousins so she went home with them and we picked her up on our way back home. So...even though it didn't go exactly as planned...we still had a wonderful family filled weekend. I'll post pictures at another time. I know this is a bit late...but I never claimed to be an "on-time" blogger!
